Atlanta commercial kitchen hood cleaning
Research index for operators. Public rules we found, how to vet a cleaner, open listing slots. Not a ranked vendor list.
Thinnest on intervals: Still no Atlanta-only hood-cleaning cadence, licensed-cleaner roster, or local NFPA 96 interval table found after an extra GA SOS / AFRD pass; confirm with Fire Life Safety. Do not invent intervals.
What operators usually get asked
- Atlanta construction framework lists International Fire Code and International Mechanical Code (with Georgia amendments) among state minimum codes. Fire life-safety questions often route through Office of Buildings Fire Life Safety.
- Georgia Subject 120-3-3 (Rules of Safety Fire Commissioner) adopts NFPA 96 for commercial cooking protection within state minimum fire safety standards — statewide baseline, not an Atlanta-only cleaning calendar.
- Georgia Subject 120-3-23 covers kitchen/restaurant fire suppression system service licensing. That is a different job from grease-duct cleaning — do not treat a suppression license roster as a hood-cleaner list.
- Georgia State Fire Marshal announced 2024 NFPA 101 (and related NFPA updates) effective May 27, 2025 for projects submitted on/after that date — verify which editions apply to your cooking ventilation for your permit vintage.
- Still no Atlanta-only public page stating a hood-cleaning cadence, licensed-cleaner roster, or local NFPA 96 interval table (after GA SOS + AFRD extra pass). Confirm intervals and documentation with Atlanta Fire Rescue / Fire Life Safety before relying on vendor summaries.
- Published contact path (verify on current city page): Fire Life Safety (470) 716-5173 · firelifesafety-oob@atlantaga.gov. Exhaust grease cleaning and suppression ITM are different jobs.
Vet checklist
- Certs your AHJ accepts (IKECA or local equivalent) — ask, then verify
- Certificate of insurance before they arrive
- Photo report: plenum, ducts, rooftop fan — not only the canopy
- Full-system vs canopy wipe in writing
- After-hours and roof access confirmed before the crew shows up
