Los Angeles commercial kitchen hood cleaning
Research index for operators. Public rules we found, how to vet a cleaner, open listing slots. Not a ranked vendor list.
Thin on intervals: No public fixed brick-and-mortar grease-cleaning interval table was found beyond adopted Fire Code rules; confirm with LAFD or County AHJ for your address. Do not invent intervals.
What operators usually get asked
- Start at the LAFD Fire Prevention Fire Code page: LA Fire Code = California Fire Code + LA amendments (2023 LA Fire Code linked there). Confirm whether LAFD or LA County Fire covers your address.
- LA County Public Works grease-hood correction sheet: the owner is responsible for cleanliness, maintenance, and inspection of kitchen exhaust, fire protection, and cooking equipment (citing CMC language). Fire Department approval is required for grease hood/duct fire-protection systems.
- LA County Environmental Health expects hoods/grease filters clean and properly installed under California Mechanical Code / Health & Safety Code §114149.1 — health inspection track, separate from fire-suppression ITM.
- No useful primary LAFD FAQ confirming a stricter-than-CFC city cleaning interval or a city licensing roster for hood cleaners was found. Confirm the exact interval table in the official LA Fire Code PDF and with your AHJ. Do not invent a LAMC section number.
Vet checklist
- Certs your AHJ accepts (IKECA or local equivalent) — ask, then verify
- Certificate of insurance before they arrive
- Photo report: plenum, ducts, rooftop fan — not only the canopy
- Full-system vs canopy wipe in writing
- After-hours and roof access confirmed before the crew shows up
